I like to draw trees. They’re always available just outside my studio door, unless my studio happens to be in a desert or the tundra which it isn’t. I love the visual variety found with trees….bountiful and colorful, gnarly and aged, timeless and charred. Trees can also be metaphorical and contain potent narratives, like remnants of burned trees from fires in my area of Northern California. Trees can also be a bellwether of our ever-threatened (by climate change) ecosystem.
